Private Academy style of teaching is a little bit unorthodox. The
students of the school are mostly from rich homes and wealthy parents.
Believing that they have to prepare the students for the challenges of
the outside world, the school has two modes of teaching. During the day,
the students learn the normal subjects that every other school teaches.
Subjects like history and languages are taught during the day.
At night, a different type of learning takes place. The school teaches the students what it takes to deal with money and control people. The school becomes a gambling den at night and a new type of lesson is taught. Here the students bet their fortunes by challenging one another in betting duels. The loser becomes the slave of the winner and must obey the winner’s commands until she is able to pay the debts she owes. If debts are owed and the loser graduates without paying, the winner can dictate where the loser works and even who the loser marries.
Yumeko Jabami is a transfer student who is very excited about the gambling system of hierarchy for the student. It becomes clear to everybody at the school that she wasn’t interested in gambling for the money or status it brought but for the thrill and excitement that gambling brought to her. This deviation from the norm causes uproar at the school as both the teachers and student body to try to subdue her. Yumeko’s desire is to beat Kirari Momobami and anyone who challenges her in a gambling match.
She is the main character and protagonist of the series. She is pale skinned and has brown eyes. Her dress code for school is a red blazer over a white shirt, dark colored skirt and brown loafers with black stockings. She also likes to wear red lipstick and paint her fingernails red.
Yumeko has an easy-going personality and easily makes friends with people, even those that dislike her. Her easy going personality changes when she sees someone cheating in games. She is very persuasive and can quickly see the schemes and ways her opponents are cheating. Her thrill when gambling makes her take uncharacteristic high-risk bets that sometimes ends in a loss. Yumeko doesn’t seem to be bothered if she wins or loses, as long as the game is exciting.

She has a cruel nature and can be quite sadistic at times. She treated Ryota in an inhumane way when he lost to her in a gambling match. Unknown to her, Yumeko was aware of her cheat and defeats her during the gambling match. Itsuki is left humiliated and becomes the second person that Yumeko defeats in the series. Itsuki’s defeat leads to her being dropped as a student council member. She later joins up with Yumeko and Ryota when she finds out that Yumeko’s goal was to challenge the student council president. Itsuki assumed that Yumeko want to become student council president and so she befriends her to have a chance of getting back on the student council.
